Growing up in an intercultural tug of war, Alena Zhang is a born, bred, and blessed Chinese-American. She practically lives to try new food, preferably with bacon, and loves meals that begin with dumplings and end with triple layer chocolate cake. To justify this, and her utter lack of ability at anything involving a ball, Alena spends six days a week at the studio, taking ballet, modern, and jazz classes. The other half of her life revolves around SciExcite Inc., a nonprofit organization she began with several dedicated friends. Through their efforts with young resettled refugees, elementary and middle school aged children, Alena has had the wonderful opportunity to deepen and broaden her love for science and her community. Alena currently lives in Central New York, where she is a proud but slightly exasperated student at Fayetteville-Manlius High School.
