They facilitate hands-on technology-centric events to empower, support, and increase the confidence of women and girls. Through their events, they build community, empower participants to see themselves as leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing high tech industry. Their vision is to create a safe, inclusive, and innovative technology future that includes equal pay, participation, and treatment of women.
A message from ChickTech Founder & CEO Janice Levenhagen
As the Founder and CEO of ChickTech, a national organization focused on creating opportunities and communities for girls and women in tech, I am passionate about helping girls and women reach their full potential. We at ChickTech are so excited to be partnering with Metiza to create an awesome community for girls!
There are so many messages that tell girls they aren’t good enough, smart enough, or strong enough. From the beauty and modeling industry pushing unrealistic body images, to the music industry telling us our only value is the value we provide to men, to the stereotypes around what girls are good (and not good) at, we have a lot of forces working every day to keep us from our potential. I’ve met and worked with so many amazing girls and women through ChickTech, and I can tell you that every one of them is capable of incredible things. Organizations like ChickTech and Metiza are so important because we can help combat negative messages in order to support women as they show everyone what they’re capable of.
Why does ChickTech focus on technology? Technology is a driving force for everything, helping to make our lives better in so many different ways. In order to shape the future, we need to have an equal voice in this influential industry. By targeting tech, we can make the biggest impact and change. Of course, it also helps that technology careers are fun, rewarding, and interesting.
