With the new Gilmore Girls Revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, coming out on Netflix everyone has been talking about the show. This includes the people that never watched the original series that captured the hearts of so many viewers years ago. Gilmore Girls made could make you laugh, cry, and even made you think eating massive amounts of junk food was something YOU could do.
This show was and is a home away from home for a large population of fans. Who wouldn’t want to live in Stars Hollow? Watching the show transported you to another place where you could drink coffee with Lorelai, dance alongside Ms. Patty, and play in a band with Lane. This show taught me a lot, maybe not deep philosophical lessons, but lessons none the least.
It’s OKAY to need your mommy!
Most people have experienced that moment, whether you are 4 or 40, where you don’t want to talk to anyone except your mom! She is the person who helped you become who you are and one person you can always count on. To be perfectly honest, after 21 years of life, I’ve come to realize I will ever stop needing my mommy.
You can be like Michele and people will still love you.
Michele, for those of you who have not watched the show, is a surly French man who you come to love in the show. He is sarcastic and somewhat mean spirited but probably one of the funniest characters you will come across.
It’s okay to take chances.
This show is just so quotable! While it is not entirely feasible that we will all get invited to a secret society gathering and jump off a tall structure in a ball gown, we all have the opportunity to take chances and make things happen in our own lives.
It is entirely possible to fall in love with TV characters
Whether you were team Jess, Logan, or Dean the one thing we could all agree on was that we were in love!
Food combinations have endless possibilities
If you’ve ever seen just one episode of Gilmore Girls you know that their food combinations would make even the most adventurous people take a step back. To this day I haven’t tried to make a Butterfinger junior mint chocolate-chip jujube sushi roll but maybe one day…
Love is weird
Watching this duo move through quite a few relationships in this show you start to see how complicated and weird love can be. You see how scary and exciting a first love can be and how devastating heartbreaks are. But all you need to know about love is: it’s never easy, and usually won’t make sense, but it is worth it if you find the right person.
Be supportive of the people in your life
Being supportive of the people in your life is one thing that will never stop being important. Making sure your friends and family know you are there for them is a large part of being in someone’s life.
Without sounding strange I have to say that this show has brought a lot of joy to my life. Gilmore Girls filled some boring times with laughter and positivity. It is such a relatable and entertaining show and I am very excited to see what the revival will bring.
