3 Quick Morning Tricks for Dirty Hair

Nothing screams confidence quite like a good hair day. You know, the kind where not a single hair is out of place, and you just wish that your hair would behave like that everyday? Unfortunately, if you’re like 99.9% of the rest of us girls, perfect hair days are a beloved rarity and not feasible in everyday life. Some days the snooze button wins and dirty hair is the result. I have thick, wavy hair that resembles lasagna noodles (plus loads of frizz), so needless to say, I typically don’t leave it to air dry. Through trial and error I have discovered some great tips to ease hair frustration and keep your locks rockin’ for a few days, without washing and the rest of the routine hassle.

Try these tips for those dirty hair mornings when you just can’t even.
Tip 1: Learn to braid, ASAP. It’s actually easier with dirty hair!three types of braids for long hair

No matter your hair type or thickness, after a day or two of not washing, you’ll notice some grease in your hair. Instead of jumping in the shower to remedy the grease, work with it. I know it sounds gross at first, but believe me, you’ll be glad you did. By braiding your hair, the grease wont be nearly as noticeable, if at all. Plus, the less often you wash your hair, the less greasy it gets, because your scalp begins to accommodate for the moisture levels on its own. How perfect is that? Just look at all the braid inspiration from Pinterest (also a great resource for braid tutorials).

Tip 2: Make dry shampoo your best friend.

dirty hair dry shampoo from Living ProofI’m a serious believer in dry shampoo. I used to be skeptical about it, thinking that it might feel heavy and chalky. However, if you find the right one for your hair type, I promise you’ll be hooked. Now that I see how well it works, I only wash my hair every three days, using dry shampoo in between washes. My favorite brand is Living Proof. Their Perfect hair Day (PhD) dry shampoo actually cleans your hair, making it look, feel and smell clean!

Tip 3: Throw a hat on it.

If all else fails or you are really pressed for time, hats are always a great solution. Dressy, casual, or sporty, hats compliment any style. Also, as a precaution for rainy weather, hats provide protection from frizz and dampness. I’m a big fan of the beanie – they’re cozy and easy to stuff into your bag. I have this Ribbed Knit Beanie from Forever21. It’s only $3.90 and and comes in a bunch of colors!

Next time you’re in a rush, or you just want a lazy day, don’t stress over your not-so-clean hair. Give one of these tips a try. I promise that you won’t regret it!
