Miley Cyrus is back with her first song in almost two years, and I can’t stop listening to it. As someone who was really into her music pre-2010 aka the Demi Lovato/Jonas Brothers era, her voice sounds more mature than ever, and I think this is her best song yet. Here, she talks to John Norris about her inspiration for writing “Malibu”, and the importance of living a life full of love no matter what. While she hasn’t revealed an album name or release date, I have no doubt she’s got more music coming soon.
Cyrus has done a lot of great work to help homeless youth, LGBTQ youth, and other vulnerable populations through her charity, The Happy Hippie Foundation, which encourages young people to go out and make a difference. In 2015, she put on the Backyard Sessions, where artists such as Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, Joan Jett, and Ariana Grande performed with her to help raise awareness.
