We’re Doing It Live (on Social) at Teen Action 2017 this Saturday, Follow Along!

Amanda Holberg
A celebration of teens changing the world.

Hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Teen Action 2017 is this Saturday, March 18th and we’re pretty pumped to be going back this year! The fair is a youth-led celebration showcasing young leaders and organizations who are inspiring positive change.

It’s free and open all day to the public, featuring hands-on activities, powerful speakers, live music & performances, interactive exhibits, food trucks and resources for getting involved. Oh also, a Metiza Snapchat geofilter… because why the heck not?

Teen Action Fair 2017

The Teen Action Fair is an extension of the foundation’s Teens Take Action Program, which offers opportunities for youth (13-18 years old) to learn about global issues through in-depth programs, drop-in activities, gatherings, and digital outreach. Their mission is to inform, inspire and empower youth to take action on issues they care about.

This year, we’re bringing back keynote speaker Leija Farr to meet and interview all the BA teens participating live on social. We’ll be posting all day on Snapchat and Insta story, so make sure to tune in!  A few Metiza Girls of note who will be participating are:

Samuelle LanierTeen Action 2017, Samuelle COFIA

Samuelle is passionate about education! She is involved with AndHer South Sound and COFIA, both of which focus on education rights and access. Samuelle is a Youth Ambassador for Teen Action, you may recognize her from her social takeover on Monday. We’ll definitely be stopping by her booth to learn more about her amazing work!

Camilla HansenCamilla Hansen, Teen Action 2017

Camilla is a die hard Teen Action evangelist and involved in anything the Gate’s Foundation throws her way. She previously worked on projects for One By One, but is excited to be a Youth Ambassador for Teen Action this year. She hopped on our Instagram this week to talk with students from her high school about getting involved in non-profit work. We’re excited to catch up with her on Saturday!

Bella DeVaan

We met Bella at Teen Action last year and she’s quickly become one of our favorite contributors. She’s written about how to get involved in politics even when you can’t vote and her work for HS for Hillary. She’s also a Youth Ambassador for Teen Action 2017. We’re excited to see what she’s been working on this year!
