It’s no secret that Beyonce is Queen. It’s also painfully clear the challenges girls face globally to live a life to that is free, where they are seen, heard and supported to reach any and every goal that is their birthright. Today is the International Day of the Girl. Global Goals is an international organization encouraging you to use your voice. Make change happen.
Last year First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated with her film We Will Rise and a campaign for Global Education for Girls. This year we add Queen Bey to the mix and the fight is more important than ever.
There have never been more ways to use your voice to ensure real progress for girls around the world.
Global statistics include:
- Every five minutes a young girl dies as a result of violence
- One in four girls is married as a child
- 71% of human trafficking cases are female
- 63 million girls have undergone female genital mutilation
- 130 million girls are out of school
- Girls are twice as likely to become infected with HIV
It is time to end all forms of violence against girls. If we work together we can achieve the Global Goals by 2030, but we need everyone. Now. And not just on the International Day of the Girl, but every day. Every gender, every race, everyone together. We belong to each other.
