Well folks, it’s prom season again! The season of cute promposals, too much hairspray, and trying on a million – no, a billion – prom dresses. When I was in high school shopping for prom, it seemed every dress I liked was dramatically over my budget. And while there is nothing wrong with spending a good amount of money on your dress (because do what makes you happy girl!), I wanted to remain budget-conscious.
Even though I’m not going to prom this year, I went hunting for some fabulous dresses for the girl who was like me, and either could not afford an expensive dress or would just rather spend that money elsewhere. So here are some flirty and fun prom options that are totally #WorthIt.
I know you’re thinking, “Forever 21 has prom dresses!?” The answer is yes, girl, yes they do. In fact, I bought my prom dress from here junior year! I was practically stalking a specific dress for weeks that was so cute, but so expensive, and happened to find an almost identical dress under my budget at Forever 21.
Their prom shop has awesome dresses that fit into seriously almost everyone’s budget. Here are some of my favorites!
While Urban does not have a specified area on its site for prom dresses, the maxi dresses they do have can easily worn for a fancy night on the town. Their repertoire of dresses includes boho chic pieces and modern chic pieces alike. So this year, consider going Urban with one of these outfits.
Modcloth is a bit of a hidden gem. Not everyone knows about it, but the people that do can’t get enough. I ordered my senior year prom dress from Modcloth and loved the material, the style, the quality and definitely the price.
Modcloth specializes in vintage-inspired clothing with an emphasis on 50’s and 60’s style. Check out these beautiful dresses that are sure to be one-of-a-kind at your prom.
This store is like a godsend. They have pretty much any item of clothing or accessory you could want, including stellar prom dresses. I even bought sandals here to wear to my senior prom! ASOS’ prom shop is extensive and beautiful to say the least. Be sure to check out the rest of this site as well for prom shoes, accessories and bags.
RENT THE RUNWAY
With a low budget, designer dresses are generally out of the question – but not with RTR. Rent the Runway allows you to rent a designer dress for a fraction of the price for just a few days. Perfect for prom or homecoming, right?
Several of my friends have chosen to do this for special occasions and they rave about the awesomeness of this company. Here are just a few of the thousands of dresses they have for rent. Plus, you get $25 off your first order. There’s something for everyone at Rent the Runway.
Well let me start out with the best part, new customers get 50% their first order! Yes, you read that correctly. TOBI’s website carries everyday pieces for the modern girl, from tanks to jeans to shoes to swim. They do have a specific section on their site for prom dresses which makes shopping even easier.
