DIY Pineapple Lip Balm + Matching Clay Container

We forgot how much we love playing with clay!

When it comes to our lips, we’re all about pampering. And that starts with a great lip exfoliant and lip balm. There are some amazing formulas out there, but just for fun, we decided to make our own. This DIY pineapple lip balm recipe is great because you get to control all the ingredients and how much you make. Plus, it smells amazingly fruity and the matching container looks like Spongebob’s house. Feel free to improvise with other fruit or floral flavors too!

DIY Pineapple Lip Balm

Supplies

Lip Balm Container
Yellow and green clay
Small container
Aluminum foil
Craft stick or toothpick

Pineapple Lip Balm Formula
Glass pot
1/2 tblsp of beeswax
1/2 tblsp of cocoa butter
1/2 tblsp of shea butter
1/8 tsp of pineapple flavor

Directions

Lip Balm Container (Preheat oven to 250°)
1. Wrap lid and base of container with aluminum foil.
2. Roll yellow clay into two balls, using 2/3 of clay for 1st ball and 1/3 for 2nd ball.
3. Place base of container into bigger ball, and lid into smaller ball of clay.
4. Shape both pieces of clay so that when connected, they look like a cylinder.
5. Use craft stick or toothpick to make pineapple-like pattern.
6. Using your green clay, create small leaves and attach them to the top of your pineapple.
7. IMPORTANT: Remove plastic containers from inside of aluminum foil  and load clay into oven, make sure the aluminum foil is in contact with tray. If you bake with the clay touching your dish, it may stick. Bake for 15 mins.
8. Carefully remove tray from oven and allow clay to cool for ten mins (or more if needed).
9. Remove aluminum foil and glue bottom of plastic container to base of pineapple and top of container to top of pineapple. If it doesn’t fit perfectly, use some clay to secure into place.
10. Load cooled lip balm formula into container.

Pineapple Lip Balm Formula
1. Add  beeswax, cocoa butter, and shea butter to glass pot.
2. Heat glass pot in hot water bath until it liquifies (about 8-10mins).
3. Mix in pineapple flavor.
4. Let cool and thicken so it’s easier to transfer into your plastic container (step 10 above).

Enjoy!
